I have been curious about this supplement I saw on the internet, it was green coffee bean extract. It had an impressive list of benefits and I wondered how it is different from just the normal coffee bean. There were numerous articles about it, which made it easier for me to find out.
Here's a few of the benefits I've read:
What is it exactly?
I learned that green coffee beans are basically just unroasted coffee beans. And as we all know, coffee beans are loaded with antioxidants and pharmacologically active compounds. Green coffee bean extract does contain some caffeine. But if you do not roast the beans, you keep their levels of chlorogenic acid intact. When coffee seeds or “beans” are roasted, their antioxidant levels also increase, but one natural substance called chlorogenic acid decreases. This chemical is thought to block fat accumulation, boost weight loss, curb carb absorption, and help regulate post-meal blood sugar levels. In addition, green coffee extract does not taste or smell like coffee, a supposed benefit for those who don’t enjoy java. Yep. Just like me.
That's green coffee bean.
With all the benefits we get from it, I also thought about the side effects. After all, there has to be some potential side effects that balance out all the good things that green coffee offers. Out of all the studies, there were no side effects reported at all. There were no reports of any symptoms associated from drinking too much coffee.
The effects of coffee don't apply to pure green coffee beans. The symptoms from too much caffeine are not among of the green coffee bean extract side effects.
Instead of identifying side effects, I found a list of those who are possibly not safe to take it. Besides, prevention is better than cure.
If you may be allergic to coffee beans or to caffeine.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take pure green coffee extract.
Children should also refrain from consuming green coffee supplements.
People who are on medication for serious ailments such as heart disease or diabetes should also avoid green coffee capsules.
Out of all I've read and what I've learned, I think it is worth the try. I'll write again after the first week of trying it.
